'This Was Supposed To Be An Abstract'

About The Piece

60 x 80 cm | Mixed media oil painting | 2025
Original painting by Brigita Bonas

At first glance, it evokes the serene majesty of a dreamlike alpine landscape — glacial peaks wrapped in mist, a reflective lake below, and wild blossoms blooming at the edge of chaos. And yet, beneath the surface lies something unruly, poetic, and human.

This Was Supposed to Be an Abstract is a playful confession and a layered invitation. What began as an abstract composition evolved organically, pulling Brigita into a narrative she hadn't planned. Embedded within the piece are fragments from a Lithuanian literary work — Juozas Šokas’ Gegutė ieško auklės — letting language whisper through colour, texture, and movement.

Colour-balanced using principles inspired by Biogeometry, this work was created not only to be seen, but to harmonize and gently attune the space it lives in.

A landscape of surrender — where form meets feeling, and art listens back.
